No more ff.net for me!

http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=childfree&itemid=626973&view=5614877

Not that I've liked ff.net for the past, oh, two years almost? I liked it better when it was smaller and less full of kiddies or officious dickwads like, oh, um....

While I don't fully support unsupervised surfing for kiddos, I think there are more harmful things that 14 year old Ashli Tayler can get into on the net than some fanfic stories with sex in them... like pedos in teen chat rooms, for instance. In a library, there are kid, teen, and adult books. They are in their sections, and the stories on fanfiction.net are marked with a rating, which is to me like the sections in the library. Since when does having adult books in the same library as kids' books harm kids? True, it's not going to stop kids from reading it but the warnings are there

Instead of the internet being a babysitter, parents need to be aware of what their kids are surfing to, but make informed decisions, i.e., is a story with sex going to hurt my child or not? I'm personally more concerned with violence than sex, though I don't blame violent TV or video games on kids going on killing sprees. But that's another story right there.
